Family Volunteer Weekend in Marquette County

The Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County hosted a Family Volunteer Day event at the Westwood Mall in Marquette Nov. 19, 2011. The Great Lakes Center for Youth Development was one of several nonprofit organizations that offered service projects for families to take part in together. Activities ranged from decorating holiday cards for troops to making fleece scarves for the homeless. Volunteering as a family helps strengthen the developmental assets of “positive family communication” “service to others” and “caring” among others.  For more information on Family Volunteer Day, visit the GLCYD website.
